Cave dwellers Cave guests and for us its Cave lovers Let’s lay down right here And forget everything we thought we feared There’s a fire that you started within me The way you broke down my walls (ahh) I know your heart is stone cold like these walls But still, I lay in your arms Under a blanket of moss Lets sink below the water table What are we what are we what are In that zone there between Us being real and furthering Stygofauna invades our dreams while I’m fast asleep Way down there beneath Where the darkness take me In that zone there between Us being real and fantasy Cave dwellers Cave guests and for us its Cave lovers Let’s lay down right here And forget everything we thought we feared Troglofauna make sure we’re asleep Faster than I could dream Come float in the dark next to me In that zone there between Us being real and a fantasy There’s a river that flows down beneath us Don’t know your thoughts at all I’m so confused but I wanna fall Right where you are My mind is all a scree You’re with those other girls that are not me but What are we what are we what are we In that zone there between Us being real and fantasy Cave dwellers Cave guests and for us its Cave lovers Let’s lay down right here And forget everything we thought we feared Troglofauna make sure we’re asleep Faster than I could dream Come float in the dark next to me In that zone there between Us being real and a fantasy Cave dwellers Cave guests and for us I guess we’re just Cave lovers Let’s lay down right

I’m a made for TV movie and you’re a dragonfly And together there’s no sense that can be made I’ve got One of those headaches that makes the air hard to breath But I’m out in the rain like I should be My eyes are open wide (so wide) With the universes golden light And ah ah ah ah ah and I don’t know why You’re a queen amongst the fairies and I’m a montage scene Come rollercoaster through the willow trees And you’re barefoot on the grass and you’re holding me and I’m asking you what it all really means When I first laid eyes on you, boy I was drawn to you like a moth to a light And ah ah ah ah ah I don’t know why Well Hermia’s coming down the row and her sweet skins on mine As we dance under all the fair lights He’s so nervous don’t you see (won’t you see) Waking up from a bed of leaves Well Quince bought us tickets to ride (all night!!) The Ferris wheel high into the night sky And ah ah ah ah ah I don’t know why Well you’re a glittering night fair ride and I’m right in your seat Your love flips me over in the air without Without gravity, without gravity Without gravity, without gravity Was it all a dream, it was all a dream Without gravity, without gravity Without gravity, without gravity Without gravity, without gravity

Neon 03:18
Late at night On my own Standing in an empty street It’s strange (so strange) That I can’t seem To be able to move my feet But then I hear A melody Drifting through the night Now I find That my feet Are dancing with all their might Let me see you shine a little more Just like those neon lights we can’t ignore Take me high to the sky back to the floor Late at night Now I know Violescent lights so sweet I won’t change But I can dream Someday I will be complete Standing here Not with you Got no time no room for tears Since I’m here Erasing blue Everything becomes so clear But then I hear A melody Drifting through the night Now I find That my feet Are dancing with all their might Let me see you shine a little more Just like those neon lights we can’t ignore Take me high to the sky back to the floor Let me see you shine a little more Just like those neon lights we can’t ignore Take me high to the sky back to the floor Let me see you shine a little more Just like those neon lights we can’t ignore Take me high to the sky back to the floor

Mushrooms 04:02
Tan line epaulettes She leaves mushrooms where she steps And her worn cassette Smoke fills those lungs That transcendental stuff sure burns her tongue I belong to her And she is all that I need I belong to her And she’s my whole world And I know that it’ll be alright This weekend’s boring as me Kicking habits off while I sleep Will she have time to miss me? A precursor I see She wrote her name in my book Sitting back she’s giving me looks And no mention of how we ever should Tan line lingerie, well the garden grows around the seats and aisles of this plane And when we get off she’ll leave And I don’t know what you’ll say Will love feel so still when it’s so far away Feeling fucked I cannot wait! I belong to her And she is all that I need I belong to her And she’s my whole world And I know that it’ll be alright What am I even doing? What will I even say? What am I even doing to get myself this way? Wind down on a Wednesday I’m wine drunk in the dark And we’re stepping on mushrooms I can’t get it from the start She follows me home (I belong to her) And she is all that I need (she is all I’ll ever need) I belong to her And she’s my whole world And I know that it’ll be alright and alright (I belong to her) Tell me do you think of me (I belong to her) When you’re awake and I’m probably asleep, those (I belong to her) Dreams are far away and I can tell you that I dream of you too I belong to her (And I’ll find someone else to need)

Beowulf 02:38
I’ve got scars from the slippin’ slide And they tan brown when the sun is in my eyes We’re always laughing almost all the time Bet you can’t imagine the dumb reason why And we’ll run naked into the water and See every flaming ball of gas up in the sky The clear black sky And we’ll remember why This is all the best time of our lives Laughing til we cry at some dumb CGI! Laying on his pull out til the last hours of the night Can I? Can I? Coin flips and red lights I think I’ll shower outside And we’ll run naked into the water and See every flaming ball of gas up in the sky The clear black sky And we’ll remember why This is all the best time of our lives Way down Constellation Street and sunny as the day can be With dark eyes from lack of sleep or Sunscreen slippery (And I got scars…) And we’ll run naked into the water and See every flaming ball of gas up in the sky The clear black sky And we’ll remember why This is all the best time of our lives I AM BEOWULF! And we’ll run naked into the water and See every flaming ball of gas up in the sky The clear black sky And we’ll remember why This is all the best time of our lives And we’ll run naked into the water and See every flaming ball of gas up in the sky The clear black sky And we’ll remember why This is all the best time of our lives

about

This album has been a trip. Originally started before Sunflowers had even come out, it has been something in the works for so long and probably too long. There have been many versions of album 1. None of the original songs survived to the final product, only living on in old demos and rare live performances. It took us forever to find our sound. The first demos had Aiden’s cello on every song and me attempting to play slide where it didn’t belong. These original songs helped us practice, helped us grow our chemistry. A lot of these tunes came out of jamming. Often one of us would have an idea for a sound or a dumb name for a song and we’d just play it. Try it a bunch of different ways.
All of the songs have a life of their own. Capsaicinoid Man has been a dream of Aiden and me since we were sitting in Nolan’s AP Euro class junior year of high school. The amount of demos and concept recordings for that song is absurd. Midsummers and Wunderpus were two I wrote the summer of 2021 (with Wunderpus being one of many songs I’ve written on my Great Grandma’s front porch) and Beowulf was a recollection of a senior trip our friend group went on. Mushrooms was an exercise in trying to write something without knowing where it would end up. Neon was Janice’s love of City Pop coming into view and the entire band’s obsession with Masayoshi Takanaka creeping front and center (Aiden made the bass line around the time he was arranging Rainbow Goblins for a school assembly). Deep Caves was basically a jam constructed for a specific show. It morphed into a random Janice power piece about cave flora and fauna. And Mouth of the River was a song I wrote about not being able to face change. The album has come out during our first year in college after forming the band junior year of high school. A lot had changed for us throughout that time but Wet Muscles was always a constant and this album has been a constant. This one is for the fans, everyone single person who helped us past and present, and those patient enough to put up with us not having music out. We love you.
